Apply Upgrade Solution Issue

Hi Everyone,

I have imported a solution into my Prod instance by using "Apply Solution Upgrade" option to delete one field, but while trying to upgrade solution I realized that the system is trying to delete some other components which are required. Don't know why it is trying to delete the other components but those are required, may be some one removed (not deleted) those components from the solutions in Dev. Now I want to abort the solution upgrade process but I have 2 solutions in my Prod instance. My question is can I delete the "_Upgrade" solution from my Prod instance? Will it cause any issues?

Thanks,

Phani.

    Hi,

you can delete the solution which you installed before the deleted components wont be restored with it. You must install the back up solution of previous versions if any.

    Hi Sreevalli,

Sorry I confused with your answer.  It's good to understand if I name the solutions. I have 2 solutions in PROD now

    1. APSCore with version# 1.1.1.8

    2. APSCore_Upgrade with version# 1.1.1.9

I want to know the impact if I uninstall APSCore_Upgrade solution as I don't want to proceed with Solution Upgrade.

    Hi,

You can refer my blog on Cloning Patches and Solutions - dynamicscrmclub.wordpress.com/.../using-clone-a-patch-clone-solution-in-d365-solutions

Also, if you remove any unmanaged solution from an environment, nothing will change, but you'll lose track of what was in that solution.

    Hi ,

As you said you have two solution ?Are those solution are managed?

If you have managed solution then all data and  component reference to managed solution will be removed  . There should not be any impact when next time you will deploy upgraded solution.

I have another question for you , are those solution sharing same component ? You might be get dependency issue in that case , anyway if you are able to delete solution, I think there will no issue with future deployment.

    Hi Goutam,

    Yes those are managed solutions.

I already tried to delete the upgrade solution but it was failed due to some dependencies.
