Dual Client

Hi

We are in the process of configuring GP2013 (moving from Gp10) and establishing our companies on the server.  We are 6 months away from a full launch but have acquired a new company.  Rather than build in GP10 and then having to migrate the company I would like to build directly in GP2013.  Of course the client and IM etc are different - can I install the GP13 clientand new version of IM on the same machine as GP10 and the prior IM version?

I just went through a similar situation with a client, and based on experience didn't expect any problems  It worked out as expected.  The main difference was it was version 9 to 2013 upgrade.  I would suggest starting with only one of the workstations (not the server) to ensure you don't encounter any difficulties.

    Hi Adrian!

Thank you for the post on this, as Harry mentioned you are able to have different versions of Dynamics GP and Integration Manager on one workstation. It would create a similar situation that I currently have. I have 3 different versions of Dynamics GP and 2 versions of IM installed on one workstation and have not experienced any issues.

Please let me know if you have any further questions!

    Adrian,

In the past IM would not work with more than one version installed on the same computer and the Integration Manager manual states the following:

"If you have any previous versions of Integration Manager (IM) installed on your

computer, we strongly encourage you to remove them before you install Integration

Manager. Be sure to back up your database before removing any previous versions."

From the others' answers this may have changed recently, but I would test this first before planning on it.

Also, if you have any 3rd party products, it would be best to check with each of the companies involved, as this answer may differ depending on the product.

Thx all.  I have heard back from our Partner now and they confirm both points raised in the replies.

Yes you can with GP2013 and IM12 but you can't with earlier versions.

Will be installing next week so will come back and confirm.

So we went ahead and did an install last week and it all went well, we have one user with both GP10 and GP13 client plus IM12 and IM8.  They are running on Windows 7 32 bit at the moment but we have tested an install on Windows 8 64bit and it seems to work as well.

I have done a dual client for GP2010 and GP2013 for demo purposes but did not try installing IM twice.
