Move Raw materials within warehouse using mobile device

Hi All,

I have certain raw materials ---- For examples Grains, Oils, Flavors are my warehouse Zones and the same are added on the product as product filter codes.

Now when I am doing a inventory movement on the mobile device, if I am doing a full pallet move or partial pallet moves within warehouse locations, system should throw error or restrict user from dropping into a wrong Zone or when the warehouse zone is not a match for product filter code
I have the same question (0)

    Hi,
For basic inventory movement, not possible without code.

An alternative would be to use a Mobile device menu item (MDMI) to direct the movement (Movement by Template) rather than allow the worker to select the put location.  With a Movement by template, you can chose a Work Template and Directive code that point to Location Directives where you can build the logic of "If filter code 1 = X, consolidate or look for empty locations in Zone X, etc).

    Hi,

I think you are trying to achieve 2 things as mentioned below

    1. Guided Inventory movement of raw materials > Grain items are suggested to be stored in location which belongs to Grains zone
    2.  Restrict the movement of raw materials to their respective zones only > If a worker makes attempt to move grain item to a location which belongs to Oils system should block that movement.

If yes than its possible by below setups as shown

    • First thing first that Filter codes on items and zones on locations are not linked automatically. They are connected via location directives.

    • Locations assigned to proper zones as shown below

    • Item master updated with proper filter codes as shown below

    • Setup location directive to handle Grains movement. This will help link item to zones and will provide suggestion on the mobile device.

    • Now do one setup for work template to handle grains movement. This will help us give a unique work class ID which will help us stop the movement to other zones. (Valid put location types)

    • Now use the Movement by template option. I tried to receive grain item, and system properly suggested the worker to take it to location 010101 which belongs to Grain zone. Now exception scenario is crazy. What if worker overrides the system suggested location and manually selects a location from a zone Oil. :) Look below

    • Worker wants to override system suggestion now, but we want to make sure he can scan any location which belongs to zone Grains. If he selects any other location which belong to a zone other than grain, then system should throw error and block this movement. See below it works
I tried to move it to 01010106 which belongs to Oil zone and system blocked it,

So, you need to make one location directives and work template to handle and restrict inventory movements within zones as shown above. There are lot more possibilities but shared one example here.

    Cheers.

Sagar Suman : You have break down the issue correctly, But the problem I am facing here is

My locations are all of type BULK - Location Type, linked to Location Profile BULK but of different Zones.

Work class is limited to Location types but not the Location profiles or location zones. How can I overcome this issue without starting over from scratch of creating location types?

    Hi

You are right that work classes are limited to restricting movement to location types and not on profiles.

I did that setup to avoid below

    • In case work hits "Override location" and wants to change the system suggestion (System suggestion was to put a Grain item in a location which belongs to Gain zone but now worker can by mistake select a location which belongs to Oil zone and system will not stop this movement)
If you do not allow your workers to override the locations that you can skip the work classes and separate work templates for all types of RM and just force workers to follow the system suggested final put location. For this just doing location directives setup and linking items to zone will do the trick.
