Assembly Order Posting Error

Hello All,

I have been stuck on an error for the past week while trying to post an assembly order.

The error message is:
You cannot reserve this entry because it is not a true demand or supply.

I have reviewed Microsoft's suggested solution, which mentions verifying the Item’s Reserve setting and checking for production order usage.

In my case:

The item’s Reserve is set to Optional

I am not using any production orders

Despite this, the issue persists.

Can anyone help me understand why this is happening or suggest a possible fix?

    Hello khushbu,

Thanks for your suggestions regarding the issue.

However, I would like to clarify once again that we are not using Job Orders or Production Orders in our process. We are strictly working with Assembly Orders only.

Are you using the latest version of Business Central, or an older version of NAV/BC? There was a bug in some earlier versions that could trigger this error message.

If you’re already on the latest version of BC, try deleting the assembly order and recreating it to see if the error persists.

    Hello,

To resolve the "You cannot reserve this entry because it is not a true demand or supply" error in Business Central, ensure your item's Reserve setting is correct, verify that the assembly order is linked to a valid demand like a sales order, review your inventory setup to avoid automatic reservations, and clear any unwanted reservation entries.
