Posting the Production Journal?

Posted on by 3,482

Hi:

After finishing a Released Production Order without even opening or posting its Production Journal, I have noticed that posting to the Item Ledger, Capacity Ledger, and the General Ledger still occurs.

My manufacturing environment is set to Backward Flush everything.

Is posting the Production Journal really necessary?

Thanks!

John

Yes, if you Components and Routing Work/Machine Centers are all set to be backward flushed.  You can create and immediately finish the production order and BC will consume the BOM, output the finished good, and post capacity cost as outlined in your BOM/Routing.  Essentially a fully automatic production process assuming a perfect world and no variance.
