    RE: Biztalk

biztalk is often used to integrate other system/software products with CRM.

Biztalk acts like a facade/gateway or maybe an interface, which can take messages (queued if needed) from other software products and then pass this to CRM and recieve messages from CRM and send them back

    This is a good introduction

A common example is integrating SAP/ERP systems with CRM

    RE: Biztalk

I haven't really used Biztalk much myself but I think it's a pretty big thing to learn and get to grips with.

Biztalk is usually used for larger projects when perhaps Scribe is a bit lightweight

I think you have a lot of learning in front of you but that should be an exciting challenge!

    These look good

    RE: Biztalk

    Hi,

Broadly BizTalk allows a message based integration rather than the batch ETL (Extract Transform Load) style integration that SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) performs. The messages are usually (but not always) interchanged via WebServices. There are many 'adaptors' for various systems that do not have a Web service standard API.

Typically you would use BizTalk to solve the 'spaghetti' point to point integration challenges. By moving the integration services 'middle-ware' you can benefit from consistency of monitoring & administration for your integrations as well as using the many standard patterns that BizTalk makes easy such as the 'Gateway' pattern Ben mentions. See www.enterpriseintegrationpatterns.com/MessagingGateway.html

Although traditionally BizTalk has been an on premises deployment - Azure now offers a hosted cloud based version - azure.microsoft.com/.../biztalk-services

    Hope this helps,

    Scott

    RE: Biztalk

    Biztalk,

The most common implementation with BizTalk are transaction base and not batch processing (like Scribe or SSIS), where you need to send or receive transactions on demand, it is common to have a process that will be receive XML messages when a Post Event happen on CRM and then receive the response async for the same request.

MSMQ is one of the most common scenarios, other scenarios with CRM integration are batch files (CSV or Pipe delimited files) that need to be process by BizTalk and create, update or change status on CRM records.

Hope that give more details on types of integration

    Abe.
