Business Central Online API V2.0 How to Enable

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by 5

The V2.0 API's do not appear to be available in our Business Central Online sandbox environment.

I can find documentation and forum notes on enabling V2.0 API's for on-prem but nothing for the online version.

What do we need to do to enable V2.0 for Business Central Online (Wiise)

Thanks.

I have the same question (0)

    Hello,

    Are you looking for these:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../devenv-develop-connect-apps

I was able to do it in SaaS release. A url in Postman can be like this:

    api.businesscentral.dynamics.com/.../$metadata

    Hope it helps.

    Thank you.

    Thanks Marco,

I should have provided more information.  I was trying to access the V2.0 api's from Power BI as I had seen done in a few Power BI / Bus Central demos.  Select the D365 Business Central connector in Power BI and then expected to see a folder for V2.0 API's but only get these folders under the company:-

What I am trying to do at this stage is access Business Central Online (SaaS) data using Power BI.  Most of the recent demos I have looked at show them using the V2.0 Apis to do this.

    Hello,

You need to publish the reports via Power Bi desktop first and then they are accessible via BC Online. What you seem to be missing is the Standard APIs v2.0 [70].

I suppose you choose the connector for Online instead of OnPrem in Power Bi via Get Data?  You can sign out and then sign in via a different user that has a Power Bi license.

    Thank you.

Just to add to what Marco have already responded.

In BC Online all the standard API's are enabled by default so there is nothing you have to do to enable them. But you have to make sure you use the correct URL to access them.

As mentioned by several experts above, the V2.0 APIs in BC are always enabled.

    For example, in Power BI

    Hope this helps.

Not in my case they aren't, see below:-

Our company uses a BC extension called wiise built for Australian companies.  Perhaps the V2.0 API's are not available to users of this variant.  I will contact the company to clarify.
