Hi Community,

In Navision or Business Central, whenever there are any issue regarding Item movements, some users tends do Item adjustment to adjust out the stocks. But this way of doing it seems to has a problem from what I heard.

May I know if anyone can explain and list out what problems it will occur financially and inventory management in the long term?

Thank you

If done properly, no issues should come up.
Item adjustments can be done, but not quite sure I understand correctly why for Item movements they are done. Most likely the problem that could occur, is the Unit cost of the item. As adjustment will not have a direct link with the initial purchase, and in case some additional costs are added like transportation costs, then it will not be reflected to adjustments.

So if it is just movement between locations, You can use Item Reclassification journal to move from one location to another, or Transfer Orders if You want documents for these movements.

Do you mean to adjust the inventory directly through the Item Journal? This is standard functionality and should not be a problem on your system.
However, since the quantity and amount can be entered manually, if there is no information outside the system and the operation is done arbitrarily, the quantity and amount may not match the actual amount.

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.
