Enable Lot Tracking on Current Items

We are trying to enable lot tracking on select items. I've zeroed out on hand inventory. Upon trying to set the lot code, it errors that there are ledger entries, and it cannot perform the update.

The positive and negative adjustment entries were both done via item journals.

Thoughts?

Hi, As far as I know, as long as Item Ledger Entries exist, it will prompt an error.
It has nothing to do with whether the inventory is 0 or not. So, you should create a new item.

Any other ideas? This is thousands of items and they are used in BOMs, open sales orders, open purchase orders, etc.

Hi, I personally do not recommend this, but if you have developers, you can use the following Event to skip this control.

OnBeforeTestNoItemLedgEntiesExist(Rec, CurrentFieldName, IsHandled);

PS: In fact it also checks outstanding Purchase, and needs to skip those checks if it exists.

Great suggestions. I just spoke with Microsoft; this appears to be a bug with version 21.1 from what I'm finding. I could add lot tracking to an item with historical entries in version 21.0. Waiting for an update.

Update - MS agrees this is a bug and there is a suggestion created to fix this. PLEASE vote for this to be resolved so all of us don't have to keep writing hotfixes. Here is a link to vote: experience.dynamics.com/.../
