What tools do you use for AL development

Hi All,

I am wondering what tools or programming languages do you use to extend the BC and to create bespoke solutions for BC?

Currently I am using Visual Studio Code for AL development with standard AL add-ins, Docker, GitHub, Postman, Power Automate, Power BI, SQL, Azure Blob Storage, Azure Functions, AAD.

I have been reading lately on Django and Python, Java, Kubernetes and I am just curious whether someone is really using multiple tools / programming languages, because it seems that if someone is transferring from the NAV (C/AL) development to the AL development there is a ton of tools that should be used, not just simple VSC and its plugins.

Thanks for your feedback.

    Hi Damjan Zakojc

I am bit confused about your question, as you are already using Visual studio Code for AL development what else you are looking for ?

    Hi Nitin Verma

I spoke to a friend of mine, who is a C# developer and we were talking about new tools that he is using and so I thought to ask also you AL developers, what tools do you use.

I guess just small discussion here on community.

    Thanks Damjan

    Hi,

Personally I am using AL Visual code only to develop or extend BC related objects.

    Thanks.

There is a list of extensions to VS Code that also can be handy. So if you go to the VS Code marketplace you can search for AL extentions and there are some extentions there that you should check out.
