w3wp: the server is not operational?

Hello - The CRM implementation I was working on was working in prod a few days ago but now it's returning an "unexpected error." I've included the error written to the Windows Application log below. We already tried the PreferredDc solution that seems to have worked for a lot of other people. However, it's not working for us. Can you make any recommendations on next steps?

Both these tools could be used - I suggest you let your Network experts look into it and then get back to us if that doesn't give you any further pointers!

    Cheers,

RE: w3wp: the server is not operational?

"This can happen when your Domain Controller is not browsable/reachable from your CRM Server."

We were able to ping the DC via the  cmd prompt on the windows server on which the CRM implementation resides.  Does this address your point above?

Some info about our environment.  Whenever the server is rebooted it connects to a different AD server.

I'm not aware of any changes that have been made to firewall or DC settings.  AFAIK, the server was working one day but then broken the next, with the error details I provided in my original post.  Are there any particular firewall or DC settings I should check for, that could potentially be related to this issue?

I've rebooted the CRM server several times.  As far as rebooting the DC, the server connects to a different DC every time it reboots, and the DC infrastructure is maintained by a different operational group.  We're going to have an AD specialist take a look at the issue on Monday.

I've never used netdiag because I'm mainly a software guy, not really a server admin.  I did a quick google on netdiag and I saw related search info for dcdiag.  What's the difference between these 2 tools?  Should I try both of these tools in order to troubleshoot this issue?

    Hi,

This can happen when your Domain Controller is not browsable/reachable from your CRM Server. Have you made any changes to the DC or the firewall settings?

Try re-booting both the DC and the CRM server. If that does not fix it, try using netdiag (support.microsoft.com/.../321708) to check the domain membership.

    hth,

    Scott
