New company - The language of the configuration package different than your current language

Good morning, everyone,

I can't find a solution to a problem that should be simple.

I am trying to create a new company in Business Central of “Production - Setup data only”.

At the time of creation this message appears:
"The language of the configuration package file is different than your current language. The new company will be created in German (Switzerland)."

Since we work in the italian part of Switzerland, I wanted to know how to do so that I can choose to create the company in Italian.

I have already tried to run a complete set-up leaving the option unchanged, however doing it this way creates me a company completely in German (chart of accounts, VAT tables, etc) and it is really difficult then to translate everything.

I can't find where this configuration package is so that I can change the default language.

I tried to import a standard configuration package in Italian, but when creating the company I can't choose it.

Does anyone happen to know how to do this?

Thank you in advance for you help,

Gianlucal

    Hello Gianlucal,

There is mentioned, on the Configuration Package page you can find a list of created conf packages.
On the Conf Package card you can find field Language ID. Set ID to the desired one and your conf package data will be on that language.

After you installed your environment on the German, does the changing of the language on the My settings works? Based on the info on this link https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/dev-itpro/compliance/apptest-countries-and-translations it should work.

    Greetings

In Belgium we have a similar problem, maybe the solution for you is similar?

Many times when you create a company in Business Central for a BE (Belgium) tenant, you will get your Cronus demo data in French when you actually wanted it in Dutch.

If you have a Belgian trial version of Business Central and you are using the ENGLISH language in Business Central, THEN the setup data will appear in French.

So, the language of the setup data depends on the language you select in Business Central:

This means that if you create a new company with Cronus demo data, and your Business Central is displayed in English, the setup data is configured in French.

    What you could do is:
    1. Select Dutch as the language to display BC (My Settings – Language – Dutch (Belgium))
    2. Create a new company with setup data
    3. When the company is created, you can switch the display language to English

    hi

When creating a new company in Business Central with the option Production – Setup Data Only, the system automatically uses the default Swiss configuration package, which is delivered in German. This is why all setup data such as the chart of accounts and VAT tables appear in German, and unfortunately the language cannot simply be switched afterward, since these are stored as data and not user interface translations. To work in Italian, the best solution is to create a blank company and then manually import and apply the Italian configuration package. This way, the initial setup such as accounts, posting groups, and VAT settings will be loaded in Italian, and you can then adjust them to comply with Swiss localization requirements.

Can you check Region & Language Settings while creating New Company with Production - Setup data only”.

If you still face the same issue , you can create new company with Blank Data and import all  the data using configuration package ,

If you feel this answer helped , please verify the answer

The Demo data depends on the version that You have installed/activated on the database. And it is only one. If You want to have another version, then You need to create a separata database (if on prem) or register a new tenant (on SaaS) or register additional production environment that costs extra, but users are shared also with the current database (on SaaS)

Regarding where to find this configuration package - just create a new company, with the suggested language. Then in the new company go to Configuration Packages and You will find it. You can export/change language here, but not sure how much it will help You.

    Hi Gianlucal

When creating a new company in Business Central using a configuration package, the language of the package determines the default language of the company setup. If the configuration package language differs from your current preference, such as being in German instead of Italian, the system will automatically create the company in the package’s language. To resolve this, you must use a configuration package specifically designed for the Italian language before or during the creation process, as the language setting is embedded in the package content and cannot be changed afterward in the current company setup. Importing an Italian standard package like "CH.ITS.STANDARD" is correct, but you must ensure that it is selected and applied at the creation step.

For more detailed guidance and community solutions, you can visit the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Community forum where users and experts share similar configuration challenges and solutions. Searching or asking there about changing the default company language when using setup data packages will provide practical tips and possibly exact step-by-step methods specific to your Business Central version. This community support is a highly reliable resource for addressing nuanced technical issues like language configuration in multi-lingual regions.

    Thanks
