"The SQL Server Reporting Services setup information is not valid"

I get the message "The SQL Server Reporting Services setup information is not valid"

When I try to deploy Reporting services in GP2010

I've do this before with success in a single server enviroment.

This is a new Dynamics GP Server ,

Setup:

GP Server :Windows 2008 R2, SQL 2008 R2, Named instance

Report Server :Windows 2008 R2, SQL 2008 R2, Named instance

From the GP Server, logged in as Domain Administrator I can open the MSSRS Url in IE without an issue.

from GP/Tools/Setup/System/Reporting Tools Setup  I get the above message

I've also tried Deploying from a Terminal server as Administrator with the same results.

and I've tried using other logins to no avail.

any Ideas?

Unsure if this will help, but on a number of sites, they give you the new values

     <httpRuntime executionTimeout="9000" maxRequestLength="20690" requestValidationMode="2.0" />

for what is typically line 46 of the web.config file.

If you copied and pasted that value in the " are incorrect, simply replace the " with your own keyboards and it will work.

    i have the same problem
when I installed the instance without name and "reporting service native" feature,
    the reporting service work correctly
but, when I used a named instance, the reporting can not connect.

so when can I find the path or wath is the configuration that I must to do or to check ?

That is really odd and I would expect to see that reversed where your domain admin could deploy and the domain user accounts would not be able to.  The only scenario in my head that I could come up with as to why would be SQL permissions but that is a really far stretch.  Can you use your domain admin account and login to the SQL instances using SQL Management Studio & Windows Authentication?  Try hitting your instance as a domain administrator and then again using your domain user.  I would be curious to know if you could connect to the GP instance of SQL with your domain admin credentials.  But at the least I'm glad you managed to get your reports deployed.

Not a very satisfying answer, but I’ll have to live with that. After spending many days building servers, installing and configuring apps, converting data, I’m not going to start over.

Would really like to know why though.

Weird, Does Not Make Sense, but works

Just went through the whole process today to verify what I thought I saw last night.

On the sever running GP Client and SQL Server I was never able to deploy reports.

Just happen to stumble on a work around.

From a workstation ( In this case a terminal server ) If I login a domain administrator I cannot deploy reports. If I login to Windows as a Non-Admin domain user and run GP logging is as SA then I can deploy, redeploy to my hearts content.

I tried multiple times to make sure.

From the server I was unable to deploy regardless of who I was logged in as.

Logged in as a domain user with SSRS Administrator rights I can deploy from a workstation but not the server.

Yes Domain Admin DOES have  SSRS Administrator and can create new reports in SSRS.

Could you please install SSRS instance on the GP server to know about root cause of the issue.

By the above if its solved we can come to conclusion as its because of connectivity issue between GP and SQL SSRS Server or if it is not solved we can come to conclusion as the issue is with the GP application. Again this is just to know the root cause of the issue.

While not optimal, you could install GP to your SRS server (at least temporarily) to get the reports there.  A support call may be necessary.

    Thanks

The max length would be 255 characters.  Just a shot in the dark and I know it shouldn't matter but you may try entering your server information in all lower case.  If that didn't work you might try using the fully qualified domain name.  For instance report-server.domain/reportserver_insancename  or even replace the name and try using just the IP of the reporting server.  I've never had to do that before but it's worth a shot.

    Rudra,

    1, 2, 4, 6, I've allready done,

7 No the SSRS and GP SQL Server are different servers  both running the same versions of the OS and SQL.

3 Just turned of the firewall on both servers , no help

The URLs work in IE. copy and paste from the Reporting Tools Setup form.

Getting deperate - ran a Dexterity script log on the OK button - The Reults:

'Reporting Tools Setup OK Button_CHG on form SQL_Reporting_Services_Setup'

'ReportingToolsSetup Save Record_CHG on form SQL_Reporting_Services_Setup'

           'IsValidSrsLocation() of form SQL_Reporting_Services_Setup', 0, 2, "http://CTB-Application/ReportServer_SQLREPORTS", "", ""

It never even try's to contact SSRS (checked the logs) - some internal restrictions on the service name are hard coded in Dexterity ... But What!!!!!

Would be nice if they's give you a clue.......

Length of the instance name? server name? ?????

RE: "The SQL Server Reporting Services setup information is not valid"

    Hi WORBY,

Please try my suggestion if it make sense

    1. Run the report server and Report manager url in the different servers IE and check

    2. Run the IE as "Run as administrator" and check the permissions both site settings , folder settings and the folder setting rights inherit to all the folders inside the report server and also now run the IE without the administrator option and the same permission exists, if its vice versa please provide the relevant rights.

    3. In the GP server try disabling the firewall and check.

    4. In the SSRS reporting configuration manager check for execution account and service account is configured and also encryption key settings and the native mode and test the connection as well.

    5. If everything is fine try to configure the report server with a different port, restart the ssrs services in between the steps to take effect.

    6. Try running GP as Run as administrator and save the settings. Also restart the server once after all the steps make sure perfect.

    7. In your case GP application server and SQL server name instance and ssrs all are in a same server right.
