Reflect packing structure received from Vendor ASN in outbound shipment containers

Hi Team,

I have a client struggling with scenario where packing structure received from vendor ASN cannot be reflected on outbound shipment when a full pallet is moved. Is this gap in FO?

Scenario

Supplier sends ASN to ERP system e.g. single shipment containing 2 boxes with unique item in each box. I have configured ASN receipt to receive everything into stock correctly.

When items are shipped out of warehouse, we need to go through Packing process to build appropriate container structure and generate various documentaiton reflecting exactly what is being shipped.

However, some of the ASN shipments received from the vendor do not have to be put away, they can be kept unpacked and shipped directly to customer.

Obviously, if we are not put items away, ideally, we would just take the packing structure from vendor and reflect it in outbound shipment. At the moment, the only way to reflect packing structure from inbound ASN (2 boxes) is to go through the packing process again.

Is there any way to take that ASN packing structure and reflect we're shipping e.g. 2 boxes without going through containerisation/packing process?

Notes

To allow above 'cross docking' scenario, I have configured cross docking template to move inbound shipment to baydoor immidiately if purchase order is due to be shipped in 2 days.

If purchase order is due in more than 2 days, location directive will simply keep the full license plate in staging area until sales order is released. This all works correctly.

Below is basic example of ASN structure

1. Purchase order for two items

2. I then create load and packing structure (purchase order - load planning workbench - create load - create packing structure)

3. Box 1 and Box 2 are set up as license plates. You can see that container type has been assigned against license plate.

4. When items/license plates are picked, container structure disappears and the ourbound shipment doesn't reflect original LP container type

Above example is based on nested license plate but I tried simple variations with single LP linked to one container type. It also didn't work. Appreciate all the help

    Hi Adrian,

Have you tried to use Import ASN data entity ?

    Thanks,

    Alina

    Hi Alina,

You're right, I can see that working as Import & Export job, however the whole process would be managed by warehouse operatives so manual processing of data management is out of question. I don't think this could be easily automated as well.

    Thank you for suggestion though.

one of the way would be to use PowerApps and then import data through them

    Hi Rahul,

Appreciate the suggestion. I'm wondering if you can recommend any material on Power Apps where similar scenario has been explored/something to use as a base for investigation?
