Is there a way to create a distribution list in CRM for email templates?

When an opportunity is closed we currently use a outlook template that is sent out to the distribution list regarding the result.

We would like to house this in CRM 2011 , I can obviously use the email template function for the email itself but to send the email from CRM I am stuck trying to figure out how to create a distribution list. When I look at the options of whom I can send to it doesnt look like there is a group option.

I may just be looking at this the wrong way

    Here is how we have always done this in the past:

    1. Create a new Contact in CRM with the First/Last name set to the name of the current distribution list

    2. Now for the e-mail address of that contact, use the current e-mail address for the distribution list (if one doesn't exist you can create a new one in Exchange)

    3. Now you can use that Contact as the recipient of the e-mail from CRM.  When it get's routed through your mail server the e-mail will get distributed to everyone currently on that list.

    This method works pretty well and still provides 1 place to manage all the members of the list, which would primarily be Outlook in this scenario.

    CRM doesn't allow you to create a DL based on Team membership or to send e-mails to a Team. The closest you can get is to create a team and a DL for it in Exchange (or whichever e-mail server you use). You could then associate that DL e-mail alias with the team's queue and send e-mails to that team's queue.

    Good idea however I dont have Users as an option in marketing lists

    You can group the members in the Maketing list,then distribute them to send group email.
