Problem communicating with the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server" CRM for Outlook error

Hi there,

I tried to configure Microsoft Dynamics CRM Client for Outlook by using the Configuration Wizard, then the following error message comes up:

There is a problem communicating with the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server. The server might be unavailable. Try again later. If the problem persists, contact your administrator.
I was able to get some information when I searched online which boils down to many possible solutions such as,
Checking the operating system date and time on the client system and also the time zone making sure they are correct.
However I also tried to configure the operating system time to synchronize with an Internet time server but the internet time server tab was missing on the Date and Time dialog box from the on the client system when I went through clicking Start >  Control Panel > Clock, Language, and Region, and then Date and Time.
I checked the server to confirm these date and time settings but to my amazement, the Internet time tab is also missing. The operating system on the server is Windows server 2008 R2.
I need to synchronise the time on the client system to that of the server to get past this error but I'm finding it difficult. I used the following command : net time /set on the client system, but still the time on the client system is different from the time on the server.
Any help would be highly appreciated as I need to get past this error so I can successfully configure the CRM for Outlook client.
Thanks

the debugging approach still applies except if it is CRM online, the option 3 is not very like to be the problem

“There is a problem communicating with the Microsoft Dynamics CRM server. The server might be unavailable. Try again later. If the problem persists, contact your system administrator.”

Problem #1: There is a duplicate entry in the sitemap within the same area or sub-area.

Solution #1: Scan the entire site map for entries that end in (1), which would indicate a duplicate. If any are listed, the site map would need to be edited to remove these duplicate entries.

Problem #2: There is a direct reference to a custom view in the site map.

Solution #2: Scan the site map XML content, and determine if any entries point directly to a custom view. If so, it may need to be removed, or modified.

Problem #3: The Discovery service is not operating correctly

Solution #3: Go into settings -> customization -> developer resources, and click on the discover URL. Then click to start a service. If you receive a 500 Internal Server error, please contact your system administrator to diagnose problems with the Discovery service. A quick fix may be an IISreset on the server.

    Hi Jeremiah,

CRM Online can’t connect to CRM Outlook if there is a difference of +- 4 minutes with respect to UTC Time, (Hours can be different but the recommendation is to have minutes synchronized). Verify that the time in your machine has not a difference of +- 4 minutes with respect of UTC time. (http://time.is/UTC , http://www.timeanddate.com/)

This could solve problem when trying to connect to server.

Verify that you have these domains in trusted sites on IE: *.onmicrosoft.com, *.live.com, *.microsoft.com y *.dynamics.com.

I will provide different logs and possible solutions to them below:

    a) Microsoft.Crm.Outlook.ClientAuth.CrmClientAuthException: Authentication was canceled.

Clear cache in IE and do reset of IE configuration.

Use CCleaner to clean cookies and temp files in a better way: www.piriform.com/ccleaner

Use fiddler to verify if there is a firewall, proxy or antivirus blocking connection.

    b) System.ServiceModel.Security.SecurityAccessDeniedException: Access is denied.

    Incorrect Security Roles.

Email is not approved in CRM Online.

URL is not in trusted sites.

    Problems with antivirus and firewall.

    Plugin conflict with CRM Online.

    c) 09:03:48|Warning| Client configuration failed with the exception : It is not possible to start configuration assistant for CRM Outlook because configuration file C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics CRM\Default_Client_Config.xml is not valid. Microsoft.Crm.Application.Outlook.Config.CommandLineArgs.ParseConfigFile(String configFileName, Deployments& deployments)

    Correct Default_Client_Config.xml file:

    blogs.msdn.com/.../configuring-the-crm-online-2011-outlook-client-silently.aspx

    d) Microsoft.Crm.CrmException: Logon failed because credentials are invalid ---> Microsoft.Crm.Passport.IdCrl.IdCrlException: LogonIdentityExWithUI()

Windows Live ID 6.5 is installed; Install right version of Microsoft Online Services Sign-In Assistant for IT Professionals RTW incorrect:

    Steps:

1.- Uninstall Microsoft Online Services Sign-in assistant y Windows Live ID 6.5 (it these are installed)

    2.- Reboot computer.

3.- Download and Install Microsoft Online Services Sign-in Assistant

    4.- Configure CRM Outlook

It is recommended to keep updated CRM Outlook:

    1. Install CRM Outlook in desired language:

    2. Update CRM Outlook: support.microsoft.com/.../3036179

    3. Update Email Router if applicable

CRM 2013 last update is Service Pack 1 Rollup 2

    Hi Jeremiah,

Could you confirm if the issue is with one single user or all the users.

I would request you to provide the clientconfig log file available at

    %Userprofile% \AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\MSCRM\Logs

to get more details about the error as the error you are getting is pretty generic.

    Thank you.

    Vineet Nair.

I had this issue today, version Dynamics CRM 2015 With Update 1 on the Client and Update 0,1 on the server. I solved this by following this rutine::

Start Configuration Wizard, delete the organization

Delete files in the this two folders:

    C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\MSCRM\Client

    C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\MSCRM\Client\IconCache

Start Outlook, and add the organisation when the Configuration Wizard start

    Hi,

Try using command prompt in administrator mode and then change the time.

Restart your client machine after that.
