Portal Content Localization Issue

Hi guys

Having a few content localization issues with the Dynamics 365 Portal and I'm wondering if I'm going about this the wrong way.

I can create a new page via the front-end of the website/portal and it creates a new webpage in D365 and creates a localized content version for me as well but the localized content version seems to "slip" whenever we makes changes to the front-end page. Even the basic of changes doesn't appear to be pushed to the localized content pages.

Is there a specific way we are supposed to be updating pages now that localized content has been added? I'd have assumed it was still done the same way as normal from the front-end but when we do we can get non-display of pages (errors) and then we need to go into the localized version and update this to match what should be in the Copy/Summary and then on a CTRL+F5 we get the correct content on the webpage (most of the time).

We don't have many languages on the Portal (English) but we had to create a secondary language for en-GB as D365 is based in the UK so has this as the default language (and we ended up with a broken Portal when the update took place a month or so ago). That's all sorted now but I'm wondering if the fix we implemented is now impacting on how localized content should be working.

Any advice appreciated as always guys.

Steven

Just curious if anyone has had similar issue as it's really starting to drive me insane a little here.

It's almost as if the page shows the original version at times, then the updated version will appear on second save and then we get the actual version the third time around...all a little bizarre and confusing.

We have 3 languages enabled on our portal. We update the localized content individually as it is not always the same for each language.

To my understanding, the content of main page is only copied to local pages when created a new one.

What drives me crazy, is the bugs in entitylists and subgrids which does not take translations into account, so tat we still need extra coding to work around.

    Thanx for the reply Birgit.

Is that how the localized content is supposed to work (you need to update it manually for each language)? I would have though you would update the main page and the localized content would have been updated to reflect those changes but as you have found (as we have) that's not how it is working so I'm guessing we've been wrong on this.

At present we are only using English on the site (and we had to create a subset language for English UK since the CRM is set to this and when the Portal was updated to 8.2 it broke the sign-on pages and as few other core pages as well since the language of the CRM didn't match the Portal language.

So if this is how localized content is supposed to work then it means the front-end editing functionality is broken then since it doesn't update the localized content correctly then? Seems to defeat the purpose of making life easier for users if the system needs to be updated directly in the CRM as well.

What I have noticed is that when you open the front-end editor you will sometimes get to see the languages shown on the first tab and then sometimes you don't...depending on which tab is show will depend on how the content will be rendered when you save the front-end editor. As I say, don't know if that's just us seeing this but I'd have thought if others were seeing this they would be complaining as well.
