issue with direct transfer for serial no. tracked item

Hi, I created a direct transfer order from a simple location A to location B where receipt is required. The item being transferred is a serial no. tracked item. After I populate the item tracking line and post shipment. NAV 2018 shows error saying there is nothing to post even the shipment has indeed been posted. 

However, I was not able to create a warehouse receipt by getting the resource document, even the transfer order shows up on the screen. As a result, NAV didn't create a receive line for location B.

I was able to use reclassification journal to put the shipped item from a blank location back to the original location. And I have no issue if the transfer order is done using in-transit location. 

I'm wondering if it is possible to do a direct transfer for tracked items.

    when using direct transfer, the qty to receive becomes non editable.

    nothing happens by trying to create inventory pick/put away

    Hi, I tested the same settings as yours, and still have the following error.
    Can you test it on a standard database (Cronus)?

    Sorry for confusion - Inventory receipts are available in Business Central, but You are using older version of the system - forgot they were not there previously.


    So from the screenshot provided - this location doesn't use Advanced warehousing (as directed Put away and Pick is not enabled), but so called Basic or Normal warehousing.

    Would be great of You could share the Transfer order - the needed information is in lines columns - Quantity, Qty. to Ship, Qty. Shipped, Qty. to Receive, Qty Received.

    If You have quantity shipped, but Qty.Received is 0, You can try several ways to get it:


    1) In transfer Order lines enter "Qty. to Receive", the needed quantity and press Post --> Receive

    2) In Transfer Order Actions tab - press button Create Inventory Pick/Put away ? 

    if none of those 2 worked, let me know - I will try to re-create this scenario

    thanks all for the response. Not sure what the "inventory receipt" refers to. For locations which doesn't require receive or ship, there are inventory putaway and inventory pick. in my case, the from location is as below

    I didn't get error as Zhu in my testing when using direct transfer, but was unable to create warehouse receipt in the silver location.

    Could you provide more details as to how to create "inventory receipt" if items, regardless of tracked or not, are transferred from blue to silver location? thanks

    If You are not using Advanced warehousing, then "Warehouse receipt" will not be created, instead You would need to create "Inventory Receipt".

    Hi, as far as I know, if Require Receive is enabled in your warehouse, in the standard environment, when you choose Direct Transfer in transfer order, the following error will be prompted. So it has nothing to do with tracked item, this cannot be done by default. Unless you have customization.
