Hi Sally,
Can you please give more information about what you are looking for? What kind of datado you need? What kind of reports are you trying to produce?
Thanks,
Laura
There are no separate "data files" for each table, but instead SQL Server databases which contain all the objects including tables. Probably the easiest way to get data from these tables into Excel is to use MSQuery from within Excel. In Excel 2007, use Data, From Other Sources, From Microsoft Query (you could also choose From SQL Server, but then you don't get the query GUI, just the data). That would be Data|Import External Data|New Database Query in earlier versions of Excel. You should see the ODBC DSNs for your Solomon database(s) listed. You may need an administrator to grant you SELECT permission to selected tables or db_datareader role permission to the database. Be aware that Solomon uses a relational database, so useful reports will often require joining multiple tables.
I am trying to export all of the data files to excel....
The Frx report writer produces limited reports... but I would like the data files that should be on the server converted to excel..
Then I can produce more reports..... the 6.0 version that we have only has Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Shared Information, Project Controller, and Frx.
Thank you for your help.
I am trying to convert to a new 64bit computer.... and will not support the 6.0 version of Soloman
I have the 6.5 version and 7.0 version... should I upgrade the Soloman Software so the new computer can possibly see the files. I have the Rights to Run Soloman Upgrades.
I have opened Excel 2007 on the new computer... gone to data.. and then to From Other Sources SQL server and applied both Microsoft Query or the SQL Server but I do not see ODBC DSNs for the Soloman Databases..... What does this mean
The old computer has Excel 2002 and Soloman on it.
I do not see the ODBC DSNs for the Soloman Database....
I see dbase files
Excel files
MQIS
MS access database
"PWI"
SIVSYSTEM
Oh gosh.
If this is a new workstation and you don't have the Solomon client installed, then there will be no DSNs as those are created when you print (or print preview) in Solomon. If you know your SQL server name and the Solomon database names, you may be able to use From SQL Server without DSNs.
If the above list is the DSNs you see, though, that name SIVSYSTEM is certainly a DSN for the Solomon system database (not what you want). Could PWI be the name of your Solomon company database? The database name does not have to be the same as the company name...
PWI is alot of really old data.. and not related to Solomon....
I will keep looking tomorrow to find my road map... Names,
You are awesome for helping me......
