Prevent a credit note with a charge item discount from exceeding expected value of shipments?

Hello, everyone,

i am using credit notes with charge items to enter discounts to sales orders and when assigning those charge items to sales shipments I notice that sometimes users enter a value that exceeds the value of the sales shipments.

Is it possible to prevent this via Business Central? Post some kind of warning message, maybe?
I have the same question (0)

    Yes , you can validate the amount .
    When you select "Get Shipment Lines" and try to edit "Amount to Assign " in charge assgment tab you can validate the amount with sales shipment line amount or unit price if there is difference in quantity to be assigned .

    Take Sales shipment line as reference and filtering with Shipment no = Applied Document no ;   Applied to Docno = Shipment Line no . You can validate the amount

    Or you can verify at the time of posting it will increase slowness , reduce perfomance if credit note has multiple lines.

    If you feel this helped , Please mark as "Verified"

     you mean write some code to examine the value in applied invoice, right;

    Not that Business Central does it on its own.

    Hello,

    Business Central does not provide an out-of-the-box restriction for preventing charge item values from exceeding related shipment values, but you can achieve this through custom AL development

    Hello,

    BC doesn’t have a built-in control to stop users from assigning a charge amount larger than the shipment value.
    So yes, users can over-assign, and BC won’t warn them.
    This behavior is standard in BC.
    BC validates quantities, not amounts.
    To block or warn when the charge amount exceeds the shipment value, you need a small AL customization that checks the assignment and shows an error/warning.
