What is Global email template?

Hi Experts,

I have below questions:

1. what is global email template?

2. Can I access all the entities inside it to get field values?

3. Custom and standard entity field values can be accessed?

4. What is regarding object for this template?

    Check this article: crmbook.powerobjects.com/.../email-templates-and-mail-merge

    "Global means that you will be able to use this template from any type of record, but you will not be able to use dynamic merge fields from any specific record except for user records. Think of Global templates as being form letters. You could pull in dynamic user information to pull in a signature block, but would not be able to pull in Account names dynamically. For that you would have to create an e-mail template type of Account that would only be able to be used from account records."

    Then how can I add fields from 2 entities e.g. order and opportunity in one template?

    Hi

    I don't know if that is possible out of the box.

    What you you create the same fields on both entities and make sure they have the same data (via a workflow or a plug-in). Then you can add those fields to the template ?

    That could be one of the ways I think. I found one solution using plug-in. Create template for one entity and add other entity fields using plugin. Thanks for the information

    Could you please share to me about solution using plug-in that you found?.

    i have the same issue about how to insert other field from a custom entity to email template. i tried to use {!<entitylogicalname>: <fieldlogicalname>;} but it not worked
