You are attempting to create a user with a domain logon that is already used by another user.

I am trying to create a new user in CRM 2011. I've never had this error before. But when I create the user and click on Save, I get the error message "You are attempting to create a user with a domain logon that is already used by another user. Select another domain logon and try again". This user is brand new and there's nothing special about him. I've never run into this error before, but I cannot create a license for him in CRM.

We rebooted the CRM server last night - didn't help. I've read several posts online about this issue and can't seem to get anywhere. I am not a programmer, but am close with our IT department, so any suggestions or solutions you can pass my way would be great. Thanks in advance.

I had the same issue. In our case what i guess happened is that the create user process timed-out, resulting in an entry in the [MSCRM_CONFIG].[dbo].[SystemUserAuthentication] table, without the corresponding record in the [systemuserbase] table. I retrieved the SID from the AD, matched it with the record from the [SystemUserAuthentication] table and removed it. After that i could create the user without problem.

    Hi Calisto9,

You could check the MSCRM_CONFIG].[dbo].[SystemUserAuthentication],[MSCRM_CONFIG].[dbo].[SystemUserOrganizations] and[SystemUserBase] tables to see if indeed you do not possess such a user entry. If you have a CRM OnPremise instance than you can enable Server Verbose Tracing which will allow you to see the full stack trace of the error and the code executed prior to this error. You can easily achieve this by using one of the following 2 options(Option 1 / Option 2 ). You need to first enable the traces (for easier usage simply leave all categories on Verbose level) and then do a quick repro of the issue and then disable the traces (make sure you mark down the time (hour, minute, second) of when the error occurs). You then need to simply look in the generated log(s) at the time you have noted from your repro(you can open the log file with a dedicated tool - Example - for easier reading. With that error you can either came back here and post it or open a Support Incident with us to have a closer look at your issue.

No, it's not a disabled user (I mentioned that above). I already checked there and did a search - the user was not in the system.

these issues occur when you rename an existing AD user to a new one - leaving his previous SID the same - when trying to add this user to CRM you'll get a message that the user already exists because his SID\GUID is already present in CRM - re-creating the user in AD will give him a new SID\GUID and allow you to add him.

I think the User already exists in CRM but it's still disabled. Please check if the User you're trying to add already exists in the Disabled Users View; if so, just enable the User.

    Cheers!

Well, we finally got the issue resolved by wiping out and recreating his Active Directory profile. Problem solved. Just thought I'd post back here to let people know.

Yes, we do. We type in domain\username in the new user in CRM and it pulls in some basic info from Active Directory. We are currently deleting and recreating his AD profile to see if that will help. And yes, this user was logged onto the network as of yesterday.

do you authenticate with Active directory? can this user log on to your network?

No go. I already did a search (advanced find) on that username and it's not in CRM anywhere. Nor have we ever had a user with that name in the history of our company.

sounds like you alread have a user with that name. do a search for that user name and include active or inactive. that name should come up. you may have to reactivate the user.
