Is it possible to maintain a data map via forms?

I am new to Dynamics CRM and have been testing data imports (in 2011 version) using the forms provided.

I have created and saved a data map, and I can export it to XML and re-import the XML, but I cannot find anywhere where I can maintain it within CRM. There is a form to maintain its name (Settings, Data Management, Data Maps, select) but I cannot get at the mappings from there. The only method have found is to run the import wizard and alter the mappings in there, then save the map with a different name. This works but is clumsy.

Is there a provision for maintaining a data map, or am I missing a necessary permission?

If there is no maintenance form, another option is to edit the exported source XML. Is there any guidance available for doing this?

I could not find any way to maintain a data map within CRM, so I maintain the XML manually.
