Z report customization - remove sales by hour, add totals by SKU

Posted on by 75

I am trying to find a template that someone must have had made or modified existing default templates.

I would like the Z report to show sales by ITEM/SKU and not show sales by hour.

Our old Sharp XE-A506 Cash register could run that in the Z function by hitting the PLU/SKU button while in Z mode.  It also was able to print sales by hour which the RMS does by default.  However, we rarely ran the sales by hour because we already knew the trend and it wasn't necessary to see on a daily basis.

It is helpful to see at a glance without having to go into separate reporting, the items and quantities that were sold that day and 'hot' trending in sales.  It was a very convenient and useful tool.  We can get this info from backoffice reports but that is time consuming and inconvenient. Since we Z out every day, I would like to get the SKU report added to Z report.

I am hoping someone out there has the solution/template for this.

Thank you,

Aaron Fox

The reason that cash registers would print this information is so the store could keep a record of the items sold.  Because when you run a Z report on a register it clears the data and sets everything back to 0.

With RMS the Z report is simply used to balance the till.  All information is retained and can be retrieved at any time when needed,  So there is not a need to print everything at the end of everyday.

The default detailed sales report in Manager does this already in a more useful fashion than a Z report could.

Run Store Operations Manager, Reports, Sales, Detailed Sales, and click OK.

The report defaults to today's sales.

In your case, drag Description to the leftmost column to view totals by item.

You can also right-click on the report, select Show/Hide, and add columns such as cost,  margin, transaction #, cashier, supplier, etc.

It is doubtful anyone would write a Z report to list item sales since the Manager report is quick and more versatile, plus this information can be limited to specific users.

That's strange.  I would think the RMS developers would create every function that a cash register can do, especially Z reports.  And if its been this long and it hasn't been created, it probably won't.

    Thanks for the info.

    Aaron

Microsoft does not provide a way to add each item sold to the X,Z,ZZ report template.  I have had this asked many times and there still isn't a current way that I know of to make this change.

It might be possible with a custom addin that prints something outside of the Z Report.  This would be costly to create though.

    Thanks
