Why upgrade CRM 3.0 to 4.0?

What are the principal advantages of upgrading CRM 3.0 to 4.0?  Our company is using some CRM 3.0 features now, and most of our users are now using Office 2007.  Personally, I am having problems using Office 2007 applications like Excel with CRM 3.0 and assume (?) the later CRM 4.0 version will address these issues and provide much more.  Our IT department is less enthusiastic about upgrading at the moment because they see the upgrade as 'lots of work' to quote them, without a lot of new benefit.  Sorry in advance for the basic question which has been probably answered at some point here, but I did not see a topic for this basic subject after a cursory look.  Thanks.

CRM 3.0 was SO slow that it just wasn't used (minutes to come up if not accessed in awhile).

CRM 4.0 is fast enough to actually use day to day.

The best place to go would be the 'what's new' guides but here are a few changes: -Can handle multi-currencies for opportunities -Can handle multiple languages on the one implementation -Much more freedom in defining relationships between entities -Multi-tenancy (can have multiple company databases on the one server) -Much more freedom in server architecture -More powerful workflow -Better import tools -Mail merge actually works now -Clients can connect to the server over the internet The litmus test would be asking what tasks are taking too long in CRM 3.0 and will these be made easier in CRM 4.0 or what things would you like to be able to do in CRM that you currently cannot.
