Document Date & posting date update together in BC 18.1 V -Cloud

Dear experts,

When I change the posting date of the sales order or purchase order, the document date replaces with the posting date. But when I change the document date, it doesn't replace the posting date.

Normally posting date & document date should be independent. Because document date we use to record the transaction in the system. The posting date can be the same or a future date.

I checked this issue in BC on the perm version, but I didn't get this issue.

Do you also have the same experience?

Can you explain the logic behind document date replace with posting date in the sales or purchase order?

    Hello,

In the following link, you can find more information about those fields:

Microsoft Dynamics NAV: How to Use Purchase Order Dates | ArcherPoint

The Document Date will be always updated accordingly with the Posting Date since the Document Date is the one used to calculate the Due Date, but you can overwrite the Document Date as described above.

This is the actual behavior of the application, however, I found an entry match for the behavior reported, to change this behavior in the Idea Sites, which you can find below:

Microsoft Idea  Â· Don't change "document date" when changing "posting date" on purchase invoices (dynamics.com)

Please consider voting on it, which will increase the probability to have the desired functionality included in a future version.

    Hope this information is helpful.

    Kind regards,

    Laeticia Cunha

Yes, you can find this logic in the Base Application.

If you don't want the two dates to be synchronized, you can do a simple customization.

I actually tried this (Yun Zhu's suggestion) and there is something happening after the OnAfterValidate trigger that is setting the Document Date and Due Date equal to the Posting Date along with a pop-up message that states: "You have changed the Posting Date on the purchase order, which might affect the prices and discounts on the purchase order lines. You should review the lines and manually update prices and discounts if needed."

I can't find what is triggering that to happen but I have done this exact thing for other fields before, it just doesn't seem to work in this case. Thankfully Microsoft is making an update soon to provide a way to fix this.

***edit - we found a workaround using a codeunit - it required a lot of backtracking in the base code.

IsHandled being true will bypass date updates.

SetHideValidationDialog will stop that popup from showing.
