What should we do?

Hello , is the vendor providing you with a GS1 barcode on the label?

If that is the case, this feature has been added a couple of months back in D365.

Please refer to the following article:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../gs1-barcodes

By setting up the proper identifiers the system will auto-fill the information with just 1 scan.

    Alessandro parisi,

Thanks let me do all the setups.

But in medicine industries items no are serial controlled and after batch no every item is serial controlled will it work for it, and if yes then serial no receiving is a very long process so what should we do for it. do we only scan the SSCC code and all the batch and serial no inside the carton will be automatically entered in system or do we require to do some thing extra?

The article I sent shows the standard functionality to read GS1 barcodes and split information by identifiers.

You will need to understand what information is the supplier providing and what of these information your technical department wants to keep and therefore agree the barcode structure with your vendors.

This assumes you are using advanced warehousing.

Like Alessandro mentioned, GS1 barcodes provide a way under a single bar code scan to capture several information (product batch, etc).

You need to know your vendor GS1 format, to configure D365 where to read the product batch, etc in bar code scan.

    Hi SFA,

There is the inbound ASN process which would allow you to receive a license plate (SSCC) with all its content.  I have set-it up to receive an entire truck load of batch tracked item with a single scan, so it would likely work for your scenario as well.

There is a composite entitty to import the various entities that make up the ASN.  But using was complicated so we created the ASN manually and imported a vendor's excel for LP, the items and their batch numbers.  You proceed as follows:

    1) From the PO, you meed to create a Load using the Load Planning Workbench

    2) From the Load, you click on Packing Structure

    3) In Packing Structure, you can add LP (your vendor SSCC) and list all the item's serial number in teh Items's fast tab.

    4) You would receive this PO with the mobile using a License Plate Receiving Mobile Device Menu Item, scanning the Vendor's SSCC to receive the items associated to the SSCC in the Packing Structure all at ounce.

    Hi Danny Bilodeau,

Thanks for you support and detail answer,

I have explored it all the SSCC functionality where we can aggregate the SSCC>Case>Item (Batch # + Serial #) but My client wants not intact the serial # with item so is there any place where we can put the serial number associate with items but not intact with items so that once we ship we never scan the serial number of the items but we know what serial numbers are being sent in the sale order.

As we have discussed with manufacturer of medicine they told us about SAP AATPP software where they are handling the serial numbers in different module and not associating with items and when ever they sell the products then only items with batch # with SSCC will be asked by the system not serial but they can check which serial numbers we are being sent to customers.

    Regards,

    SFA

    Hi SFA,

Sorry for the delay in answering. I can see that it would be teh same with D365.  Your item would be configured to have both batch and serial tracking dimension.  If you want to reserve based on Expiry date, the batch have to be reserved so reservation hierarchy would be batch above (or batch below if FEFO not a strict requirement).

When a Sales Order is released to the warehouse, the worker will be directed to a Location to pick a specific batch#; when the worker scans the SSCC to pick the system knows item-quantity-batch # and serial# that have been picked. No Serial number need to be scanned as the system knows the content of the SSCC.

An important difference between GTIN and SSCC on drugs is that the latter does not carry any meaningful information about pharmaceutical products. However, thanks to electronic record-keeping systems that provide traceability, pharmaceutical products can be associated with the corresponding commodity units. For example, on Ritalin packaging, this helps speed up the process of acceptance, sorting, and paperwork for the subsequent release of products into circulation.
