Hi All,

I have turned on "Block item during count" field under Inventory management setup. I am using a WMS enabled item and warehouse. I generated cycle counting work in the system. But if I try to pick a sales order for the item or try to move inventory out of the location I am counting to another location system is allowing me to do it. It seems the item lock setup is not working for WMS items because there is no cycle count journals.

Can someone help me with the setup required for blocking items during cycle counting for WMS enabled Warehouse (Advanced warehousing)

Hi,

The parameter you are working with is in inventory management module and will not make any impact in advance warehouse management.

The below parameter will help you in below case

1 - Parameter "Allow license plate movement during cycle count" set to "No"

2 - You start a count

3 - You scan a location "Loc-07"

4 - System identifies that this location is empty and gives the message on the mobile device menu item.

5 - You have found a license plate standing on the Location Loc-07 physically but its not updated in system

6 - You decide to update this information.

7 - Yu click "Add item or LP' option

8 - Scan item and LP which you have found on the location (LP 07)

9 - System will give a warning that the LP 07 cannot be moved as it is stored on location Loc-11

The error on step 9 comes because of below parameter.

If you set the parameter to yes and try again system will do the movement.

Hi Sagar Suman, Thanks for you quick response. But maybe my question was not clear.

We are using cycle counting plans> generates a cycle count work for item 234 in location A. (total count is 5)

Now the system has open cycle counting work for item 234 but I can still move 2quantity from location A to B. How can I lock down this location or item so that system does not allow to move?

If I add the item in sales order system is allowing me to pick as well. How can stop system from picking the item while it's been counted?

HI,

Yes, you can.

1 - Define blocking causes

2 - Add blocking cases to all locations which are open or planned for counting.

3 - Open counting work for the location exist.

4 - Now let's try to move one item which is stored on the same location. You can see below system gives an error and does not allow me movement as I have blocked movement both input and output.

Hi @Sagar Suman, Thanks. This setup worked, once cycle count work was created and the blocking code was assigned to the location it blocked the movement.

However, after cycle count work was completed/cancelled, the location still remains block for any movement. Is there a way to automatically unblock the location once the cycle count work is done? or we have to manually go and remove the blocking code "Counting" from the location to unblock?

Hi,

I fear this is all manual for now. As counting is planned activity, we are supposed to block locations before counting and post counting review completion unblock them manually.

This can be easily customized.
