Some of our users are able to search items by vendor item number, while others cannot. Below are the screen shots of the users that are not able to search by vendor number.....

    Hi, What a strange issue.....

According to Microsoft, Business Central applies the search criteria to all fields that are visible on the page. If a field has been hidden, such as by using personalization, search won't consider this field. Search criteria are applied to fields only if their data type matches that of the search criteria.

Are the two users set to the same language?

Hopefully other experts can give you better advice.

    Thanks.

    ZHU,

    Thank you for the response.

All of the affected users are set to the same language. I did double check with them after reading your post.

I think one thing of note is that the users that are unable to search by vendor item number, just added that field to their item table view. I am wondering if since D365BC is pretty much a web-based database, is there a period of time required for D365BC to index the records so the newly added fields can be searched. If that is the case, then the amount of time required would be based on the total number of fields with data in.

    Thanks,

    David

    Hi David

I had similar issue before and I never understood why is that. I did a few things that solved the issue:

    1) Log out of BC and close entire browser. Then open browser, log back in and try.

    2) Try InPrivate or Incognito mode to see if it works or not.

    3) Remove the field then do step one. Add field back and try step 1.

If that did not resolve the issue open ticket with Microsoft.

Sorry for the delay, I was tied up with other MSFT issues. It took D365 72 hours to index the vendor item numbers so they would be able to be searched.
