Hi,

I am tryin to run a workflow every hour. I added a wait condition after my process and then started a child workflow of the same process.

And I triggered the workflow manually for the first time and it waits until 1 hour and then process gets executes and stops after a few mins instead of waiting unitl next hour. What am I doing wrong??

Please let me know..

Thanks for any help!

    Hi,

Is your workflow giving an error - it could be that you are getting the infinite loop detection kicking in if you have more than 8 calls to the child workflow in any given 10 minutes.

Here is what you should be doing:

You also might like this neat trick from Gus: blogs.msdn.com/.../scheduling-recurring-workflows-in-microsoft-dynamics-crm-2011-online-and-on-premise.aspx

    Hope this helps,

    Scott

I actually followed Gus blog for running every hour.

But he also mentioned in his blog 1 hour should be fine and if it is below 1 hour infinite loop would kick in.

Anf in my case its not giving me any error. It just executes fine only once after I trigger it manually.

Do I need to mention anything like 'run until'.

    Thanks

    Hi,

Maybe before you try to 1 hour, can you try only 1 minute, then wait, then see the behavior first.

But you don't have any Stop function in the workflow right?

So after the first time - when it kicks off the child workflow it says it's completed, but no workflow is started? Perhaps you could post a screen shot?

    Hi Scott,

Actually I did learn alot about workflows meanwhile before answering to your suggestion.

My problem is, I had to run a scheduled job on task entity for all the active tasks every hour. And then another workflow to run on Regarding(calls) entity for all the related calls(closing the call) after 5 mins.

So I set my workflows as 'On Demand' and ' start as child workflow' to run first task workflow manually for the first time.

When I am triggering manually, I go to the 'Active Tasks' and select 'run workflow' on all of the selected active tasks.

But calls entity has 1:N relationship with task and after every task workflow executes successfully, call workflow executes once and the remaining tasks throwing error:" This call has already been closed and cannot close again".

    How can I proceed further??

    Thanks for any help..

    Hi,

It seems because of the misplaced step.

You should put the 'Start Child Workflow' step just exactly after the timeout.

It seems you skip the line after the timeout. Instead, you create another action after timeout row but nit under timeout action.

Because can still see the select row....

    Try this, first.

    Thank you.

You should put the step just after

    Timeout until x then...

You can see now, select the row and click the step on the first pict and second one: no steps have been added.

Try to move to the row just after the timeout until x then, if you see the link

    www.powerobjects.com/.../create-recursive-or-scheduled-workflows-in-crm

You can see the picture and compare this.

    Hope this helps! Thanks

    Oh yeah..

    Thanks Aileen,

    I didn't notice it!!

But is that how you trigger two workflows for recurring job?

And also how to trigger one of the workflows initially?

    Thanks
