Creating Contract Line Items via Workflow

Our account managers use the products section of the opportunities.  When this opportunity is "Won", we would like to auto generate a contract with contract line items corresponding the the products on the opportunities products section.  When I am in the workflows, I am unable to create a Contract Line Item.  Any suggestions on how I can accomplish this?

I am also trying to achieve this - does anyone have a solution?

    Michael & Mike,

You wouldn't be able to do this with out-of-box featuers of CRM 4.0.  However, you could use a plug-in that watches the "Win" or "Lose" method of an Opportunity.  Then if the Opportunity is closed as a Win you could programmatically create the Contract and the Contract Line items.

This function may be easier as well if you create a custom Contract & Contract Line entity in CRM.  The Contract Entity is more linked to Cases and Support contracts, so a custom entity may be easier to manage.

While you can apparently get certain types of workflow to run on the Won/Lost status change such as to update a value on a related entity, creating new records on another entity seems doomed to fail because the Opportunity is now closed - got hit by this recently so agree with Jeremy, use a plug-in to be certain of record creation on this event.
