We've set up a workflow for purchase orders - the emails are going to the correct approvers

However, the end user clicks on the link to approve and it gives an error message that 'a connection Microsoft dynamics Gp could not be established.  be sure that you are logged on to the appropriate company and try again.'

Thought that the approvers didn't have to be GP users - how do they view the PO to approve?

(this is GP2015)

    Hello Deanne,

Can any users approve the workflows via the emails?

If not, I would verify that you have Web Services for Dynamics GP installed and setup for the company database(s) that you are using Workflow 2.0 into, as it is Web Services that powers the approval links in the approval email notifications sent out.

Also, by default, Web Services uses HTTP, so if users are 'external' when trying to approve workflows via their email, you would need to setup Web Services to use HTTPS/SSL, which we have a blog out with the steps to do that.

    Thank you,

I'm guessing your meaning the dgpp:// links in the email are not working.

As far as I know, those are only valid for "fat client" / regular installs of DYnamics GP on the users workstations.

Honestly, it would be nice if those were replaced with http links to the Dynamics GP Web Client, but i'm not sure how that is done.

For the Drill back links from the Workflow 2.0 email notifications to be used with Web Client for Dynamics GP 2015, the Trusted App msi must be installed, as it is a pre-requisite for the drill back links to work with Web Client.

If users are not seeing the option to enable drill backs, in Web Client, you will want to verify that the Trusted App certificate has been installed. This is a per-machine setting.

Thanks for that tidbit of info! I'll try that out.
