Add "Expected Receipt Date" field to "Purchase Order" list view?

Hi all,

We use the "Expected Receipt Date" to track when a Purchase Order is due in. This is handy as when you are on the Item and click "Qty. on Purch. Order" it will let you see a breakdown of what is coming in and when they are due.

However a common question would be you look at your Purchase Orders and wonder "When are things due in?" but you don't have that field on the Purchase order view so need to click into each Purchase Order to see the data.

Am i missing something here or is there a way to add this field as it does not seem to be available?

I have the same question (0)

Unfortunately that is not one of the fields you can make visible on the Purchase order list by yourself.

You need developer assistance either from an in house developer or from you CSP partner to make that field visible.

It is a relatively small change.

There are also apps avalible in appsource that can do this for you.

I did think that was the case.

Thanks for the link, that looks like a really useful app. But something as basic as adding a field that exits in the data you are looking at is basic functionality to me. But hats off to Erik Hougaard for doing the job for them with that app.

I do feel Microsoft need to get their head out clouds and focus on core usability of this system. It's like they have never spoken with a user before. It would be great to understand Microsoft's target with this. Do they leave the "problems" in so it creates invoices for the resellers or are they just that detached from the solution they fail to see so many usability flaws?

I do not represent Microsoft in any way. So i will not comment to much on what considerations they make.

But they have a site where you can submit your ideas for product improvements.

    experience.dynamics.com/.../

And i do know that they actively use those ideas to plan changes and coming features in the system.

    Hi

I agree with you. I wish it was a page that we could see some extra info for PO. I can see also challenge for Microsoft on PO view page. Each PO can have many lines with different expected receipt date. The question is which one they should show in PO list?

That being said I have found following free app useful. I wish by default BC had such a page to provide more useful info.

This is what I don't understand as they manage to put it under the sales order lines so the data must be available? There are also a few hacks and apps that get near it but would make sense to add something like that in.

Personally, I feel I need to see Business Central as more of an engine for our business rather than being able to actually do things. I have built lots of stuff that sits on top using the web services that display and manipulate the data for our specific business. It is great for that.

I guess Microsoft are in a bit of a catch 22 - If they make this too good all of the people taking $ for support and charging for apps/subscriptions and so on to make it work lose out and then not support it. So leaving obvious usability flaws across the solution to allow people to still make money on a cloud solution that should really be capable for 95% of businesses out of the box without the need to customise.

I just wish we were more aware of this when we took this on as it's very frustrating as an end user. I don't really think we should be suggesting ideas and solutions etc to be voted up as it's not like it is some open source project we are paying nothing for that a community should be building for them. Essentially I then become the guinea pig for Microsoft (but still getting billed £50+ per user) and one day we will have something near to a complete solution.
