Microsoft Dynamics Portal unknown failure issue

Hi

I am trying to build a page on Dynamics 365 Portal that allows my project resources to submit their time sheets in Dynamics CRM. I have set up all the entity permissions correctly (as I couldn't see You don't have appropriate permission message anymore on the portal page). When I'm trying to submit the entity form I'm getting the following error message:

An unknown failure has occurred. Error ID # [3293739c-ad4c-4ec0-8e8f-f8b54a77f8ce]

The message itself isn't very helpful and doesn't assist in solving the issue. I'm in dark and has no idea what exactly going wrong. Also I have tried restarting the portal but that also didn't help.

Please reponse!

    Hello,

Have you checked the error log in Dynamic CRM?

    Hi Asim,

Most of the time these errors are occurring within CRM. Can you check if you are able to create a record in crm directly?

Also, check you current portal version, if it is 8.4 then you do have an option to enable error logs.

    Hope this helps.

    Hello Dear,

    Please check:

    > Whether you are having proper permissions enabled on Account and all the lookup referring entities (like currently, I am seeing Contact entity lookup in your form).

    > 'Authenticated User' web role is associated with all the required Entity Permissions.

    > All mandatory fields presented on the CRM form must be visible on the portal form as well.

    > Is there any disabled field on CRM form?

    > If all the above steps don't work then try to Run the page without checking the 'Enable Entity Permission' option on Entity form. (if checked already).

If this is not enough to get the root cause. Enable tracing/error logs from Office 365 as suggested by other folks.

Also, check if you have any real-time workflows that are being triggered directly based on the actions on the Portal and if these are failing, these failures will also push the generic failure message on the portal.

You can now also get some additional info for the Portal error if you set additional portal logging to Azure (https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/crm/2018/02/15/whats-new-in-portal-capabilities-for-microsoft-dynamics-365-version-8-4-0-275/) - this is done in the Admin area for the Portal (not inside CRM).  If you do this, what you initially see displayed in the log is the first line of the error, but it is a multiline description that you can see more info in.
