Automatically Create Folders Not Showing in CRM 2016

Hi all,

I have a problem that I can't figure out how to solve. I want CRM to create a folder in sharepoint with the name of the new record created. So if I create a product named 12345, I want a folder to appear automatically with the same name. I have been suggested to check the box "automatically create folders" in the Document Management Settings, but my Document Management Settings doesn't give me that alternative (even if I'm using the latest version).

It's important that the folder that is created has got the same name as the product, since I have a workflow that will create a folder path https://[companyname].sharepoint.com/product/[product name]. I don't want the folders to have the name of the GUID.

All ideas and tips are appreciated!

Thanks

    Hi,

The automatically created folder will always have the ID to prevent two products with the same name from using the same folder (check out www.microsoft.com/.../enable-sharepoint-document-management-for-specific-entities.aspx for more details).

If you want to create a folder with a different name there are two options. You can do it programatically (a project I'm working on right now actually does this and it was kind of a pain). A non-programming way is to use the new Azure Flow integration service. It's a super easy and cheap way to integration thing-to-thing. There are CRM connectors and Sharepoint connectors, so you could probably set up a rule like:

    - When a product is created, create a folder in sharepoint with the name of the product.

This would handle letting you see the documents in CRM though because CRM wouldn't be aware of the folder for that product.

Hope this helps! I'd appreciate if you'd mark this as Answering your question.

    Thanks,

    Aiden
