Business Central Resources

Hi, I need to set up Business Central for a start-up, primarily for Financial Management. However I have struggled to find clear, end-to-end learning resources to guide this process.

Business Central feels very broad, and while I’ve explored Microsoft Learn, I haven’t found a practical, start-to-finish implementation guide (similar to what exists for tools like Sales Hub). I’ve also searched YouTube and Udemy but haven’t come across anything truly comprehensive.

Any suggestions for learning the Business Central interface and getting it up and running from scratch would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Edit:

Thank you for the responses, everybody.

I understand that there is no single guide for this purpose. I have previously tried the Microsoft Learn documentation for Financial Management in Business Central, and I attempted setting up the application alongside the Modules. However, frequently there were errors flagged related to something else that needed to be set up prior (with limited insight about what or when). It just seemed like there was no way forward, and no right place to begin.

Has anyone else experienced this? For those of you who did start from scratch, how did you manage it?

Thanks again!

Are you looking for OnPrem or Cloud?
If your company used Microsoft 365 then you can sign up using http://businesscentral.dynamics.com/ for Cloud.

    Hi,

While there is no specific learning link which contains everything but Microsoft Learn gives you paths to learn certain topics from basic to advance specifically.

    Following might get you started.

Also if you are looking for setup just visit http://businesscentral.dynamics.com/ and start a free trial for cloud.

    Hi,

As mentioned by , there isn’t an “all-in-one” learning link. It depends on what you are looking for. I suggest starting by creating your own Microsoft Learn account, and then exploring the Documentation or Training sections. This is the best way to track your progress. You can start here:
    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/

I also recommend this website for beginners: https://usedynamics.com/

It’s a great resource to understand the basics of Business Central, especially regarding Finance and Supply Chain Management.

You won’t get everything from a starting point A to an end point G at once.

You need to break it down into steps.

Start with the Financial Module as the parent, and then move into the corresponding areas.

Once this becomes stable and clear, you can move on to the next module.

Everything is interconnected, so don’t get carried away—stay focused on what you start.

Only older material is available, as Microsoft has now switched to MS Learn.
Hope the following can give you some hints.
Download old Microsoft Official Training Materials, E-Library and Technical White Papers, etc. of Dynamics 365 Business Central/NAV

    Thanks.

    Hello,

You’re not missing a hidden guide — Business Central doesn’t have a single end-to-end “from zero to go-live” learning resource, especially for Financials, because it’s designed to be learned module by module, role by role. The most practical approach is to follow Microsoft Learn’s Financials learning path (Chart of Accounts, Posting Groups, VAT, Journals, Banks only), use Assisted Setup inside a sandbox to walk through core configuration, and then learn by posting real scenarios end-to-end in CRONUS and your own company (invoice → payment → G/L).

    Hi,

As said by @Dhiren Nagar - that’s absolutely right. Microsoft Learn is a great structured starting point, especially for building fundamentals step by step.

If you’re looking for more hands-on, process-by-process training, I’d be happy to help you understand Business Central from start to finish, covering implementation flow, practical scenarios, and navigating the BC interface confidently.

Alternatively, if you need support setting up Business Central from scratch through full implementation and ongoing support, I can assist there as well.

If that sounds helpful, just give me a heads-up and we can take it forward.

Microsoft Learn is a great place for most setup and some functional guides.

Plenty of resources on YouTube as well, I have started created modular training myself.
