Okay - Client is running V90 SP4 (latest build 9.0.385) on SQL2000 server.
Server is old and out of physical memory.
We want to do a test upgrade to GP2010.
Client buys a new SQL server and installs SQL2008 R2.
I copy the V90 databases onto the new SQL 2008 Server and create a 32bit ODBC. I attempt to perform a client install (V90 sp4) on the new server and get the error message about sql 2008 not compatible.........I wasn't aware of compatibility issue......but I have now researched and realize V90 does not run on SQL2008.
My question is..........
If I use the existing GP client install on the old server (sql2000) - create new odbc connection to the SQL2008 server - can I perform/test the upgrade?
Or is my only alternative - create new SQL instance on SQL2000 server and perform test upgrade on SQL2000 and then move everything over to new server after upgrading to GP2010? This would require more hard drive space................client has 13 databases..........alternatives?
