How to go about finding a new Partner?

Good morning,

I am extremely unhappy with the service (or lack thereof) from our current Dynamics partner.  I inherited this partner when I assumed my position and we simply cannot go on trying to move forward without some expert help, which we are not receiving.

So, my question is:  how does one go about finding another partner?  I haven't located a directory anywhere online that would give me a starting point.  Any ideas or suggestions?

Thank you,

C.

Here are some tips on selecting a partner:

    1. Proximity may be a factor, but not so much any more.  With remote access tools, we can reach all around the world to provide support

    2. Expertise is important, especially if you have unique business processes that have required 3rd-party add-ons or customizations to GP.  As well, some partners have more expertise in certain areas of GP, like HR/Payroll, Field Service, Manufacturing, Project Account, non-profit accounting, etc.

    3. Depth of the consulting bench.  Typically, a larger partner will be able to provide more expertise and redundant consulting resources.

    4. Industry experience - having experience in your particular industry is important too.

Hope this helps and be sure to ask any questions you may have.

I would add one recommendation to consider, related to point #2 that Frank listed.

When you get assistance from a "partner", it isn't their corporate entity that is providing you with assistance--it is one or more individuals.

When you evaluate new potential partners, don't think of them as an amorphous organization.  Think of them as a group of individuals who will be helping you.

You should certainly meet the sales person and the manager or managing partner or owner, but I would also recommend that you meet with the specific individuals that may be assisting you.

For instance, if you use Management Reporter, or Project Accounting, or Manufacturing, or SSRS, ask to speak with the consultants who are experts in those areas.  Identify the challenging areas in your business or your Dynamics GP environment and ask to speak to the specific experts who will help you with those areas.  Ask them some specific questions and evaluate their responses, much as you would interview a potential employee.

Assess the individuals, not just the organization.
