I have started my way through means of customizing the search funtionality in D365 Portals.
I read thorugh the Adminitrator Guide, the blog post of Colin (Link), the official blog (Link), this forum (Link) and MS Docs (Link).
That is LOTS of information and possibilities ... and this is kind of overwhelming right now.
Here is want to want to achieve:
- Adapt the exposed entitites in the search menu - DONE via customizing the Site Setting "search/filters"
- Search through all the exposed fields of the exposed entities from the search menu - OPEN as I have no idea where to start ideally.
Here is an example of the entity "lead" where that entity has a custom field: I enter the value of that field in the search and the search shall return that lead record. - Also I wonder what happened to the "old" search implementation of v7 - the "old" Site Setting "search/query" is still there, but is it still taken into consideration along with the new search architecture?
Fellows with more experience on this, can you please share a pattern/best practice on how to achieve this?
