Receiving an error when trying to install Microsoft Dynamics GP Analysis Cubes

I am receiving the following error when trying to install GP Analysis Cubes - 'Microsoft Dyanimcs GP client must be installed in order to complete the Analysis Cubes installation'.  However, the GP client is installed on that server.  I have found that some resolutions to this error mention having Analysis Services installed and running - which they are.  Also, I even followed the KB resolution about changeing the name on the Instance folder in the registry - did not fix the issue.  We have upgraded to SQL 2008, but the install file that I downloaded from the Microsoft site is supposed to be compatible with SQL 2008.

Any help that is provided will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

P Parks

Are you using a 32 bit or 64 bit machine to complete the installation?

Are you on GP 2010 or GP 10.0?

What specific file are you using for install (e.g. GP 10.0 SP3, GP 2010 SP1, etc.)?

    David,

We are using 32 bit for the server, GP 10.0 and the install file is ACGP10SP3.

    Update to this case:

I tried the Analysis Cubes install on a different server.  GP was not installed, so I did that and also installed SP4.  Now when I start the install, the error I receive is:

Microsoft SQL Server Workstation Components and Tools must be installed in order to complete the GP Analysis Cubes installation.

The  ACGP10SP3 install file that I downloaded from Customer Source is supposedly the correct file to use with SQL 2008, but I don't believe that is correct.  Workstation Components only apply to SQL 2005, not 2008!

Anybody have any ideas on how to resolve this?

    Thanks

    Patti

If running on SQL 2008 GP 10.0, then the SP3 for Analysis Cubes is the correct file to use.  Make sure you are also using the SQL 2008 Installation Wizard, as it will create a shortcut for both SQL 2005 and SQL 2008 Installation Wizards.

Do you have SQL 2008 Tools installed on the server from which you are attempting your install?  Additionally, as I suggested earlier, make sure you are conducting the install from a 32 bit machine.
