User display name is appended with a # if last name is not specified

We created a user in Office 365 with First Name as "ABC". We do not wish to specify the Last Name and this causes the following issue.

The user is assigned with a CRM basic licence. When we list the "User" in CRM, the display name is "ABC #".

How to configure in CRM such that the display name is "ABC" ?
