Is it possible to debug the trigger/validate code on a page with type?

I have seen some posts that you can attach to sandbox to debug webservice call, however on a custom api I cannot get it to stop on breakpoints.

Thanks you both for your quick replies.

In postman when making the post to the custom api we are using the credentials that are used in BC under the "Microsoft Entra Applications" page. That userid does not exist in the regular bc users table. when i try to attach to that user (using the guid) i receive the error

Error: The user specified in your launch.json file cannot be found on the tenant.

Also the sessionid does not appear in the Manage Sessions for API calls to the custom API

Please advise? I came across this post that I think is dealing with this issue but I am not clear on what the proposed resolution is
