Dual Monitor display issue on Citrix

Posted on by 910

I'm trying to assist a customer wit the following display issues that result from dual monitors in a citrix environment:.  What can be done to resolve the following issue?

We are running GP on a Citrix server.  Intermittently, when a user logs on to Great Plains they can only see about 1/4" of the application window on the far right edge of their screen, and sometimes can not see it at all.
After troubleshooting, it appears that this could be caused when any user with a wide monitor or a double-monitor exits Great Plains with the application in a window on the right half of their screen(s). When the next person with a smaller, single monitor logs in, Great Plains loads so far off to the right that they cannot access the application window.
When this happens, the GP icon appears in the Taskbar. Sometimes users can right-click it and select an option to "maximize the window", but most of the time this is not in the list of options. (I don't know if this is based on the PC operating system.) Generally the only available option is to "Exit Application."

Thanks,
Beth

There is no resolution so to speak for this Beth. This issue is due to the settings saved in the Dex.ini as you posted. The workaround would be to not have users change monitors or you could have each user use their on Dex.ini but this is not supported as we haven't tested it.

We have similiar problems to yours, although we're not using Citrix servers. In our case shift and maximise always works.

You may also see similar problems with note fields.

I believe this is caused by the window position being saved in the dex.ini file for the GP installation on that server.

It was suggested that making the dex.ini file 'read only' can prevent this, however it didn't work in our environment as GP failed to load correctly.

Could you find some way of amending the dex.ini file before a user logs in to GP?(batch file?)
