FRx and specset at different service pack levels

Anyone know how to correct this issue?  Client applied SP12 to FRx 6.7 but it looks like the specset didn't upgrade (Frx on a 64 bit, specset on a 32 bit machine).  I can select but can't save the specset in the Spec Sets window.  I get the error - 'Unable to Save Specification Set'.  FRx will not recognize the specset as valid.

    Hi Frank,

Normally the first time you run FRx after an upgrade, the specification set will upgrade. It could be a permissions error of some kind to that directory, or an issue where you have to right-click and run FRx as an administrator.

You may want to try making a backup of your shared SysData then using the FRx Migration tool (Admin | Move Data Folder) to move the specset to the local machine. This can get a bit more complicated....

Or you can do a new local install on a 32-bit machine and copy in the .F32 from the shared SysData. Once it upgrades locally copy the files back out to the shared SysData.

There can be some wierdness with using FRx on 64-bit since it is not a supported environment. Sometimes using the ProcessMonitor tool can help uncover permission errors, or there may be an error in the EventLog in Windows.

Good luck - hope that helps.

    Ryan

Thanks Ryan.  I think you're right about it being a permissions issue because we've tried everything you've mentioned in your response except for using the Migration tool and so far nothing has worked.

We'll try your suggestions and let you know how it goes.

    Best regards,
