Cannot find any time sheet G/L entries while posting a Service order

Hi all,

In a service order, I added a service line for resource.

Before posting, I created a timesheet header, so that the time sheet can be updated when I posted shipment.

However, I don't find the G/L entries even the service order is invoiced.

I notice that the time sheet has been approved once it is created.
However, I still couldn't find the corresponding entries even the service order is invoiced.

May I know what I missed in the process?

I have the same question (0)

    Hello ,

Approving a Time Sheet is not enough.

Resource cost posts only when the Time Sheet is POSTED

Approved Time Sheet = no G/L entries

Service Invoice posts revenue only, not resource cost

    Fix:
Post the Time Sheet (or post Resource Journal Lines)

Then you’ll see Resource Ledger + G/L cost entries.

    Hi Oussama,

    Thank you for your reply.

However, I couldn't generate any line in Resource journal.

    I did 2 testings.

Case 1: Turn on 'Time sheet' in Resource card. Go through all processes mentioned. While shipment posting, the time sheet line is updated and approved. However, there is no G/L entry generated and nothing to be found in Resource journal.

Case 2: Turn off 'Time sheet' in Resource card. Create and post ship for a service order. Instead of time sheet line, Resource ledger entries are generated. Same as case 1, I cannot create relevant lines in Resource Journal and any G/L entries. In the Resource ledger entries, the cost can be found.

Create Resource Journal Entries After Registering a Timesheet in Business Central

    ✔ Result:

    • Resource entries created

    • Job ledger entries updated (if linked)

    • Costs & revenue recognized correctly

    Important Consultant Tips (Real-world)

🔹 One time sheet = multiple journal lines (date-wise)

🔹 If Create Resource Journal Lines is missing:

    • Check Time Sheet Management setup

    • Ensure correct permissions

    🔹 If journal is empty:

Time sheet may not be approved

    Job task may be blocked

    Resource may be inactive

    Hi @Dynamics Decoded Gokul,

I have checked all as above. I don't find any missing setup.

I found this thread https://community.dynamics.com/forums/thread/details/?threadid=5f125bc1-cb7c-ef11-a670-6045bda94425 that it states it is impossible to generate G/L entries from Resource journal in OOTB Business central. I'm wondering if the effect is different in Job journal and Resource journal. It may be workable in Job journal, but not in the resource journal.

    Thanks.

Resources do not post a cost to the G/L. Regardless of which journal or document is used, they only post revenue to the G/L when sold.
