Open custom activity from custom button

Hi 

I have followed this guide to create a button that open a custom activity record.

The problem is that after you created the record and pressed save (or save and close) the parent record doesnt refresh automatically the way it will I you create the record with standard functionality. 

Is there another way I can implement this?
