Hi,

Currently we have two CRM 2016(On-premise) production environment and would like to merge the data from Server1 to Server2 and planing to make it as one instance so that it will reduce user and developer efforts.

I’m looking for a tool where I can migrate the data for parent and related entities also in same time.

Example :  Account and related entities.

Following tools has option to migrate it one by one

  1. Scribe Insight
  2. Kingswaysoft

Really appreciate if you could help me to find a tool migrate the data for parent and related entity.

Migrating parent along with child entities can be a challenge with any tools. There is no reason that you should pursue this route giving that you have a lot of options to scale up performance, which I suppose is the main motivation behind this ask.

I haven't used Scribe in years probably because KingwaySoft & SSIS are so much more natural and less expensive.

However, regardless of the tool you need to spend time going through the entity relationships and "ordering" the entities.  Simplest rule of thumb is if you have a lookup on an entity, the lookup entity better be there before lookee.  Things like contact.parentaccount vs account.primarycontact must have special handling.  Neither will map the plan for you.

Well said Martin Donnelly. I missed the lookup dependency part in my response, which might be something that the OP originally imply. Thanks for covering it.

    Hi,

It’s a good option to use ‘Kingswaysoft’ tool to Migrate Data, where we can migrate all data (Parent and related entities) using its components.

However, we cannot migrate Parent and Related entities at the same time just because of the dependency issue.

    For Example:

If you are migrating Opportunity records, then there is one field ‘parentaccountid’ on opportunity entity which is nothing but a lookup of Account entity. So if Account records are not present in system then that particular opportunity record will get in error log with below error :

account with id ‘xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxx’ does not exist.

So to avoid such errors we need to make sure that parent (i.e. Account) entity records are migrated first.

In other words, ensure that all Parent entities are migrated first before migrating its related or child entity records.
