Hi,
I have a customer who would like to set read only permission on the public role. What effect will this have on users?
How can they minimize permission on this role and still operate as needed?
Any help would be great. I generally do not work with SL.

I appreciate it I work on the GP side of it. I have a customer who is asking how to lock down what the public role can do. There auditors are asking why the have dbo rights, and rights to execute. My thought was to minimize the public role, but to asign users who need the right to a seperate role such as DYNSA.
Does this make sense?

All users, including administrators, are automatically added to the public role. Any permissions granted to, revoked from, or denied to this role apply to all users.
Grant permissions to the public role with care. Use extreme caution when denying permssions to the public role. Granting read permission on an table to public would allow all users to read from that table. Denying insert or update permisison on a table to public would not allow any user to insert or update rows in that table.
