Planning engine does not consider the current inventory level

Hi everybody.
I tested both fixed reorder QTY & maximum QTY for particular items in BC. The reorder point that I defined is 10000, and the current inventory is 15000. When I run  the planning worksheet, I expect not to suggest a new purchase order (because it does not touch the reorder point!). Moreover, there is no safety stock and sales order line and etc.
Does anyone know why does it happen?
Thanks in advance.

Take a look at the item card of that one. Make sure the include inventory flag is set correctly.

When this issue occurs, there could be several reasons:

    1. You may not have selected "Respect Planning Parameters" when running the Calculate Plan batch job.
    2. Your inventory might be in a different location.
    3. If you have multiple locations and have SKUs setup, your planning parameters should not be configured on the item card but on the SKU.
    4. There could be other settings in the item or SKU card affecting this.

Providing screenshots would be helpful for further analysis.

As far as I know, the 'Include Inventory' option is only used by system when using the 'Lot-for-Lot' Re-ordering policy, which is not something you're doing.

Optimize when and how much to reorder Rescheduling Period

    Lot Accumulation Period

    Thanks for your kind replies.
    • I tried with selecting "Respect Planning Parameters" when running the Calculate Plan batch job. The result is the same.
    • My inventory is in the same location.
    • There is no SKU for this item, but for the other items we have already defined SKUs.
    • I think "Include inventory " does not impact on "Fixed Reorder Qty" policy, however, it has been activated.
    • Inventory is around 27000 (greater than reorder point)
    • In calculation plan, I haven't selected "Use Forecast", "Location Filter" and I just filtered the particular item
    • The system suggested (Reorder Point + Reorder Quantity) as a new purchase order!

Valentin provided the most accurate information to resolve your issue.

The only other thing I would add is the possibility of a Sales Forecast that includes the Item you are planning for.  When using a Forecast, it acts as the demand source.  Even if you don't have the Sales Doc created yet, the Forecast is the demand.

The most likely issue is Location on inventory compared to Location you're planning for.  The other would be a SKU parameter that differs from the Item parameter.  When using SKUs, the Item parameters should be blanked to avoid confusion.

P.S. The "Include Inventory" flag is only used with Lot-for-Lot policy.  You can ignore it for Fixed Reorder policy.
