Business Inbox/Contact Insights: Error When Contact is tied to a customer

Hi there,

I now have a customer who is trying to get Contact Insights to work in Outlook and is getting an error IF the Contact is tied to a customer record.

Setup:

Created customer which auto created the company contact. Entry in Business relation table looks correct

Added a related PERSON contact associated with the company contact

Added their email address.

Sent an email from that address

In outlook opened email and clicked contact insights

It comes back with an error that says something went wrong.

If I have a standalone contact who is NOT tied to a customer record, contact insights works as expected when I select it from an email from them. The contact page opens up in the panel and I can interact with the contact.

The issue is the customer wants to be able to open sales orders from emails coming in from customers so they need the customer relationship established.

This customer is on BC13

In a BC14 environment this works without issue.

Is there a known bug in BC13 with accessing customers via contact insights? Or is there a setup that is missing?

This is a critical requirement for this customer so any help/feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

reinstall the outlook and try again.

does this also fail on your local bc13 test environment?

if yes open a support ticket @ microsoft.
